Hackaformer
Intentional Bugs Game Jam

About Hackaformer
Hackaformer is a 2D platformer created for the "Intentional Bugs" game jam. The game challenges players to escape a cave filled with increasingly glitchy obstacles and puzzles.
Gameplay and Features
Players navigate a series of levels within a cave, where each level introduces new and more complex "glitches." These glitches are not errors but designed features that alter gameplay in unexpected ways.
Features include:
- Physics-based glitches that allow for unconventional movement.
- Visual distortions that obscure or reveal hidden paths.
- Level design that encourages exploiting these glitches for progression.

Development and Challenges
Developed within a 48-hour timeframe, Hackaformer required rapid prototyping and creative problem-solving. We focused on quickly implementing core glitch mechanics and iterating based on playtesting.
The main challenge was balancing the "glitches" to be both challenging and fun, ensuring they felt intentional rather than random errors.
Closing Thoughts
Hackaformer was a unique and rewarding experience, pushing us to think differently about game design and mechanics.
The "Intentional Bugs" theme provided a fun and creative challenge, and we're proud of the innovative gameplay we were able to create.
This project highlighted the potential of turning limitations into features and the importance of rapid prototyping in game development.
